In the digital age, as adventure and travel stories in print and online grew increasingly shorter and co-branded by advertisers, I and others increasingly pined for independent, quality storytelling about skiing. So I appointed myself sage and invented an online literary journal (I use that term loosely) called Aspect Journal.

Aspect Journal was envisioned as a place for writers to publish stories that attempted to mine the more tribal elements of our sport. Initially panned as a concept in the ski press before it even launched, it quickly gained the respect—and contributions—of veteran ski writers whom I both studied and admired. Pictured are a screenshot of the home page as well as a write-up about Aspect Journal that appeared in Powder magazine.
